An auto level is an optical instrument used to measure height differences and to transfer, measure, and set heights of known objects or marks.

It operates on the principle of establishing a visual level relationship between two or more points, for which an inbuilt telescope and a highly accurate bubble level are used to achieve the necessary accuracy.

The compensator of AT-B series incorporates four suspension wires made of extremely high-tensile metal that features minimal thermal expansion coefficient, providing unmatched durability and accuracy even in the harshest environmental condition. A finely tuned magnetic damping system quickly levels and stabilizes the line of sight despite the fine vibrations present when working near heavy equipment or busy roadways.

The AT-B series can focus on objects at 20cm (7.9in.) in front of the telescope, while previous models provided 50cm or 1m (1.6ft. or 3.3ft.) minimum focusing distance. This feature dramatically facilitates the works in confined spaces.

With an IPx6 rating, the instrument is protected against powerful water jets from all directions, meaning the AT-B series withstands a sudden shower or torrential rainfall.  The advanced protection design not only prevents water penetration, but also deters clouding or condensation inside the telescope.

For marine survey field, an auto level instrument plays an important role in measuring tide, help forward height from base point to water surface. Hence, we can know height of water level at different times to correct for variations water depth.

Total station is a surveying equipment combination of Electromagnetic Distance Measuring Instrument and electronic theodolite. It is also integrated with microprocessor, electronic data collector and storage system. The instrument can be used to measure horizontal and vertical angles as well as sloping distance of object to the instrument.

Topcon GTS-255N is mainly used by land surveyors and civil engineers, either to record features as in topographic surveying or to set out features (such as roads, houses or boundaries). In marine survey field, total station can be used to calibrate DGPS and Gyro Compass relying on base points at port.

The 6205 utilizes EdgeTech’s next generation bathymetric technology to provide an enhanced and fully integrated, swath bathymetry and dual frequency side scan sonar system. The 6205, a Multi Phase Echo Sounder (MPES) produces real-time, high resolution, three dimensional (3D) maps of the sea floor while providing co-registered simultaneous dual frequency side scan imagery. The EdgeTech 6205 Combined Swath Bathymetry and Side Scan Sonar uses ten receive element transducers and one discrete transmit element. The high number of channels enables superior rejection of multipath effects, reverberation and acoustic noise commonly encountered in the shallow water survey environment.

Utilizing EdgeTech’s Full Spectrum® technology, the 6205 exceeds IHO SP-44, NOAA and USACE specifications for feature detection and bathymetric point data uncertainty. Near shore and shallow water hydrographic surveys are completed faster and safer utilizing the EdgeTech 6205 due to the wide swath (over 200º view angle), which is typically more than three times that of existing sonars that rely solely on beam forming techniques.

The 6205 utilizes EdgeTech’s latest electronics and arrays resulting in an extremely lightweight, modular design required for shallow water applications and vessels of opportunity. The standard configuration for the EdgeTech 6205 includes an integrated sound velocity sensor and interfaces with standard GPS, MRU, SVP, CTD, Altimeters and Gyros. The EdgeTech 6205 interfaces to most 3rd party acquisition and processing software as well.

The 4200 Series is a versatile side scan sonar system that can be configured for almost any survey application from shallow to deep water operations. The 4200 utilizes EdgeTech’s Full Spectrum® CHIRP technology to provide crisp, high resolution imagery at ranges up to 50% greater than non-CHIRP systems; thus allowing customers to cover larger areas and save money spent on costly surveys.

One of the unique features of the 4200 is the optional Multi-Pulse (MP) technology, which places two sound pulses in the water rather than one pulse like conventional side scan sonar systems. This allows the 4200 to be towed at speeds of up to 10 knots while still maintaining 100% bottom coverage. In addition, the MP technology will provide twice the resolution when operating at normal tow speeds, thus allowing for better target detection and classification ability. The addition of the optional MP technology provides the operator with two modes of operation; either High Definition Mode (HDM) or High Speed Mode (HSM). This software-selectable mode of operation provides the operator the ability to select the best configuration for the specific job type.

All EdgeTech 4200 systems are comprised of a topside system and a reliable stainless steel towfish. A choice of dual simultaneous frequency sets are available to the user and topside processors come in a choice of configurations from portable to rack mounted units. In addition, an easy-to-use GUI software is supplied with every unit.

Numerous additional sensors are also available for the 4200 including a fully integrated tracking system with built-in responder nose.

Mini-Ranger 2 is a sixth-generation (6G) Ultra-Short BaseLine (USBL) underwater positioning system. It offers a standard operating range of 995 metres (extendable up to 4,000 metres) and the ability to simultaneously track up to 10 subsea targets (e.g. divers, ROVs and structures) at very fast update rates.

These features make Mini-Ranger 2 ideal for nearshore operations on small, quiet vessels, pipelay and construction barges that need survey grade positioning performance without the cost and complexity of a deep water USBL solution.

Mini-Ranger 2 calculates the position of an underwater target by measuring the range (distance) and bearing (heading) from a vessel-mounted transceiver to an acoustic transponder fitted to the target; a technique known as Ultra-Short BaseLine (USBL) positioning.

Mini-Ranger 2 is compact and highly portable, comprising Ethernet Serial Hub (ESH), HPT 3000 acoustic transceiver and software which is installed on the user’s own PC or laptop. A wide range of Sonardyne 6G mini transponders can be used with Mini-Ranger 2 allowing the user to select the most appropriate beacon for the task. These include; Wideband Sub-Mini 6+ (WSM 6+), Wideband Release Transponder 6 (WRT 6), Wideband Mini Transponder 6 (WMT 6) and the new ultra-small Nano.

The accuracy of USBL system not only depends on USBL itself, but also depends on many factors such as GPS, Gyrocompass, Dynamic Motion Sensor, Offset Method… Hence, keeping accuracy is always a difficult issue in underwater positioning. But at GSP, by using advanced equipment, at the same time deploying calibration at port and survey location, we can keep accuracy less than 3m for all activities of ROV, Diver, Towfish.

Operating vessels at sea is, by its very nature, a highly challenging activity. In order to undertake tasks such as wave height monitoring, using cranes during rough weather, or determining where vessels are using dynamic positioning, roll, pitch and heave motion needs to be measured. Based on these data, positioning system calculates to edit for result. It is so necessary in surveying at depth water areas.

Incorporating an enhanced external velocity and heading aiding algorithm for improved accuracy during dynamic operation, the solid state angular rate sensors always offer reliability in the highest performing vertical reference units ever produced by TSS.

The DMS range of sensors is available in surface or subsea variants - the subsea unit is rated to 3000m as standard with 6000m available on request. The latest DMSView software program is an intuitive Windows based program enabling installation, set-up and integrity checking, and monitoring of the sensor. The user can select from a series of frequently used data protocols or configure a bespoke output from a selection of variables.

Here GSP, we equipped the most advanced types of DMSs, including DMS 5 and DMS 10 with accuracy 0.05^o and 0.1^o, respectively. These types of equipment also provide high dynamic accuracy during vessel turns.

Veripos LD7 provides multi-frequency GNSS capability together with GNSS Heading, L-Band positioning and wireless communications within a rugged housing for the broadest range of applications. Veripos LD7 is the new generation which can receive data from many different position system such as GPS, GLONASS.

The LD7 has an additional processor for on-board configuration and custom applications separate from the GNSS engine. The rear panel has an extensive suite of interfaces for data output, timing, event marks, and a second antenna port for GNSS Heading in NMEA format with accuracy of 0.03^o if baseline is 10m. Integrated wireless options include Bluetooth for easy configuration, plus an optional receiver for reception of RTCM or RTK corrections.

The unit can compute DGPS position solutions using single or multiple reference stations. When subscribed to Veripos PPP corrections the unit is capable of computing position solutions with 10cm accuracy. Positions are computed within the GNSS receiver and are output in NMEA format for use by the user’s equipment.

The SPS361 GPS Heading and Positioning Receivers are modular, dual-antenna systems for marine construction and hydrographic survey, including precise placement of piles, bridges, caissons, offshore drilling rigs. Besides providing position data as SPS 356, SPS 855; SPS 361 can provide heading data which increase accuracy in surveying.

The SPS 361 can be used with echosounder equipments (Odom Hydrotrac II, Odom MKIII) and survey software such as Hypack, HydroPro and HydroMagic. With accuracy 1- 2.5m, we usually use SPS 361 for projects relating to dredging, dropping anchor, pipes and cables.

The Wideband Sub-Mini 6 Plus (WSM 6+) is Sonardyne’s latest generation of USBL transponders that is designed for towfish and ROV positioning, and tracking other mobile targets in water depths up to 4,000 metres.

WSM 6+ has a compact and rugged design, also offers superior ranging accuracy and fast USBL position updates. Compare to predecessors, the WSM 6+ offer full two-way Wideband support – interrogation and reply signals. All Wideband V2 and V2+ signals are supported. The configuration is programmable using supplied software and a serial link or it can be configured acoustically via iWand. This allows the WSM 6+ to be configured for use with all of the popular MF frequency acoustic navigation systems.

The Type 8370-1111 WSM 6+ is equipped with an Omni-directional transducer and is depth rated to 1,000 metres making it suitable for a wide range of general USBL tracking applications.

The Type 8370-4112 WSM 6+ is a 4,000 metre rated unit and features a higher power directional transducer.

Both types of WSM 6+ have a depth sensor fitted as standard to aid USBL positioning accuracy and an external on/off switch to save the battery when not in use.

For tasks in Vietnam offshore area, WSM 6+ shows stable working ability with strong signal for 2 days continuously. With a lot of available beacons which can be mounted on ROV or Towfish right from the start, we always have contingency plans in case of weakness beacon’s signal to ensure positioning quality is best all the time.

As a repeater, the TDL 450 series enables you to reach inaccessible or obstructed locations due to its extended range and seamless coverage around obstacles. Because it is so versatile, one extra radio can be used as a backup or as a “spare” for multiple tasks.

At GSP, Trimble TDL 450H is normally used to transmit information between Rigs and Tug boats. These information is later displayed on HydroPro software in order to serve offshore tasks.
